The Fall Festivals 2017
The light of the New Moon should be easily seen at Jerusalem after sunset ending 21 September; however the previous month has only 29 days and if the New Moon is not confirmed by observation these dates may be delayed by one day. Always book two days for the Feast of Trumpets – not because the Feast is two days – but in case the moon is not seen on the expected date after a 29 day month.
Subject to observation of the New Moon the first day of the seventh month will begin immediately at sunset ending 21 September. The Feast of Trumpets CANNOT be any earlier and might possibly be a day later than this date.
The High Holy Day of the Feast of Trumpets will begin at sunset 22 Sep and last to sunset 23 Sep.
The complete fast of Atonement, taking nothing into the body, will begin at sunset beginning 1 Oct and end at sunset ending 1 Oct.
The Feast of the Ingathering of Nations – also called Tabernacles – will begin at sunset ending 5 Oct and last from 6 Oct to the end of the seventh and last great day of the Feast of Tabernacles at sunset ending 12 Oct. The first day of the seven day Feast of Tabernacles is a High Holy Day.
The Feast of the Eighth Day will begin at sunset ending 12 Oct and end at sunset ending 13 Oct.
We are to use the day preceding the weekly Sabbaths and the annual High Holy Days to properly prepare, including cooking; because no work of any kind is to be done on any High Holy Day or weekly Sabbath including traveling or cooking and the buying of food and drink.
